Ho Ho Ho!

It was time for the annual Rancho Murieta Christmas Tree Lighting. Aunt Patty and Uncle Tom were up for Thanksgiving so they got to join in the fun this year. The rain kept many people away but not us. We got there just in time to see Santa and Mrs. Clause arrive in the fire truck. We helped everyone countdown to the tree lighting and then Alli sat on Santa's lap to tell him what she wanted this year. Ryan coached her up earlier so her response was, "I have everything I need so please suprise me with something fun." We had a good time and are looking forward to all that the season brings.

Getting ready to head out. We had to bundle up because it was rainy and cold...

Santa was gettting his greetings and instructions at the same time

Alli was happy to sit on Santa's lap although I think she preferred Mrs. Claus...after all take a look at Santa's mustache. I think he had a little too much Schnaps in his hot chocolate

Kate was having no part of Santa's lap. It reminded me of our ever successful trip to visit the Easter Bunny earlier this year.

BOWLING

The girls went to their first bowling party today and Ryan and I might've been more excited than they were. It's been a long time since the league we bowled in together in college, but we both enjoy it and hopefull soon we can make it a family affair. Alli had fun and didn't want to stop but Kate had enough after about three frames. Happy Birthday Evan and Ella!

Puddle Jumping

One of the many reasons that I love my neighbors is that they have two boys and therefore expose the girls and me to experiences that we might not ever have. While I'm not the most girly of girls, when it comes to bugs and messes, I'm pretty girly. One of our first winters, we were out on a walk with the neighbors and the boys started jumping in puddles. My first instinct was, "No!" but then I thought twice. Poor Alli was already swayed so she sat and watched the fun, but Kate jumped right in and got soaked. Eventually, Alli gave in to the peer pressure and joined the fun but with more reluctance than enthusiasm.

Today we had a little storm that didn't last for more than an hour or two, but for a few minutes it rained pretty hard and I knew the puddle at the bottom of the Carver's driveway would have collected quite a bit of fun. The girls had fun, got soaked, and then came in to a nice fire. Good times!

Toddler Talk

I love that Kate is talking more and more each day and that her words are so much more clear, but I also love the twist that little kids put on our language. I will try and get video of some of my favorite sayings but she's not one to perform so we'll see how it goes.

Ryan's favorite "Happy Face"

Some that I hear all the time: "Watch Dorfy" (she wants to watch the Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz
"Here you go" which is just a funny thing for a two year old to say

Yesterday, we were come home from school and Allison was showing Kate her art project. Kate takes a look and says, "Good yob Alls" aka "Good Job Alls"

And one of my all time favorites is "Polkapots" for polkadots

Apple Hill...Finally

We finally made the trip to Apple Hill. We head to Apple Hill every year, but I always try and wait until after Halloween and the craziness. During this time of the year, you can get up the hill without waiting in hours and hours of traffic and since we buy our pumpkins locally there is no need to subject ourselves to the pre-Halloween traffic. Allison spent the night with Nana and Papa so Kate and I headed out this morning to pick her up and take them to High Hill. Nana came along and we stopped to feed the ducks, we had the best grilled cheese sandwiches ever, and then we headed over to get apple donuts and apples to bring home for apple pie. It was a fun day and worth waiting for.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Allison and I had the wonderful opportunity to see the El Dorado Musical Theater's performance of the Wizard of Oz. During the first 15 minutes of the show, Alli was on the verge of tears convinced that the wicked witch was going to shoot fire. I tried to explain that it was just a peformance and that it wasn't going to be real fire. Little did I know, she did shoot fire from what looked to be a small lighter, but Allison was ok and relieved after the scene. From then on she loved the performance.

Even though she didn't go with us, when we got home Kate demanded to watch "Dorothy" and has been singing Somewhere over the Rainbow ever since. I think the girls are hooked! It was a great time and we will certainly return for other perforamnces.

The cast came out to sign autographs after the show. Here is Alli posing with Glenda the Good Witch

Here we are waiting for Dororthy's autograph. She was Alli's favorite and gave an amazing performance. She is just 18 but I know she has a huge theatrical performance career ahead of her.

Big News!!!

It has been a crazy few weeks in the Myers' household. We finally got the final results and so now we are able to share with everyone. We'll let Ryan share the news as he did with Alli a few days ago.

Before the camera was rolling, Ryan told Alli we had a secret to tell her. I hope that somewhat explains her hilarious response...

Kate's response pretty much says it all...

Happy Halloween

The girls had a wonderful Halloween. We started the day at the best Halloween Party in Rancho Murieta. The Eathorne's put a lot of work into their annual Halloween Party and the kids had a blast. From crafts to games to early morning trick or treating.

Later in the day we headed over to the Himmelmann's for dinner and trick or treating. The girls love to play with Grace and we love to hang out with Grace's mom and dad or better known as Chris and Heather. The girls stayed out way too late but it helped them adjust to the time change. Their dad stayed out even later but that's for another blog. We had a great Halloween and look forward to many more in our wonderful community with our awesome friends.
